Hi Definition

To sit and ponder the actions of others, and more importantly the reasons behind the actions of others is to sit and ponder the actions and reasons of your self. To try and define another human being is to attempt the impossible. The myriad of possibilities and subtleties is as chaotic and grand as universal astrophysics. To be 100% accurate with any judgment is about as likely as winning the dummy tax (lotto). Generalizations with an attempt to fine tune are about as close as I ever seem to get.

In day to day activities we all see people interacting, some of us take pause and think about the what’s and why’s of the interactions and others accept it at face value. Most of us will do either one dependent on our level of preoccupation with whatever may be going on at that time. All of us make passive judgments of people based on what we see and experience in relation to them. These are all daily occurrences whether we realize we are doing it or not. As far as I can tell all of the judgments we all make are based on a measuring stick of what we like and dislike about ourselves or things we will or won’t do. At this point Hypocrisy has the option to enter the equation and will, if given the chance, become some ones basis for judgment of us. Hypocrisy is an odd thing in that sometimes it is something you think you wouldn’t do, others it is something you do but dislike about your own actions and detest in someone else. Either way it gives a very negative perception of ourselves, via ourselves and others.

To recognize our own shortcomings we will sometimes measure ourselves up against those we see around us, good and bad, other times we will measure ourselves against our own self image. All of this in an attempt to become what we want or hope to be, sometimes we lose site of the fact that everyone is doing basically the same thing, observing and improving or attempting to improve.

Closing though; the book of knowledge lays out before us everyday, we just have to stop and read it. Well translate it then read it. Well recognize it, translate it, then read it…and remember that everyone else is trying just as hard to do the same general thing.

whoa. that was deep man.
[it had to be said]

i could go all post-modern right now and say something cliched like 'there is no abolute truth only each individual's own truth' but i wont...

i think its sad that some people get so far in life without properly examining their own self and recognise their own shortcomings.

Even though my sister may not comment she really loves your writing. Just thought you should know.

This piece is food for thought and a wonderful exploration on how we learn through being aware of others, and ourselves in relation to others.

You are so clever. Thank you for putting some ideas out to contemplate.

Fatty - hehe yeah I almost ended the closing thought with some cleche commentary... but had to refrain this time :)

Alison - thank you both :) even though sometimes I fail (in my opinion) putting out something to spur thought is really the goal of all my writings, agree, disagree, objectify.. it's all good as long as it generates consideration about the topic or even a paralel topic...
