Slot B ... What the Deuce?!
Ok as everyone saw yesterday, guys (in this case me) do stupid things, but I started something and I have a habit of finishing it, even when it goes bad. So, for my next trick I shall attempt to explain female patterns…. Uh, yeah.
Let’s see I think the most common point of interest in what has been said this week about women is they have a tendency to not be able to find the point in their own statements, so I want to give a few reasons why this could be. I personally believe it’s because women believe men don’t get what they are saying so they start to try and explain what it is they are trying to get across. Honestly I have seen some of the apparently dumbfounded looks on guys faces when listening to someone explain things, and I can’t blame women for taking it as a cue to explain with more detail. Where this seemingly good hearted effort seems to go a little astray is true of most people, women will quickly go to examples to try and make what they are saying clearer. The problem with examples is they tend to become the topic, and a tangent conversation is born. Guys being the focused (on sex) types of course lose track of what the real point was and decide that the analogy on how a flower needs sunlight and water to grow somehow translates to “buy flowers on my way home from work tomorrow” (to get sex). In reality this is the guys fault mostly because although he was aware of the original issue and knew what she was saying he could not seem to convey that during the original statement (tip to guys: look at her actual eyes when she speaks, it will help… oh and close your mouth unless you are speaking). All in all I don’t blame girls for going into tangents and losing track of the initial point, I do it from time to time when talking to slow people too.
Hmm I noticed through email and comments that the female readers (at least the outspoken ones) of this article seem to be more attuned to the fact that guys don’t listen than anything else I have said this week. So I am left to my own devices to find what they are covering for…you know chix are slick right? I am going to go with the compromise thing, you know the inability to realize what compromise really is. I blame parents for this, I really do. During a little girl’s development Daddies everywhere refer to them as “Princess” and will basically crumble to the upward stare of their daughter, “Of course, Princess, I will rob the bank to get you a pony…” I honestly don’t see where, during the formative years, a woman would have ever learned what compromise is. Kudos to those few I know are out there that do.
Closing thought; there is a reason why anyone does anything, if you pay attention it will become clear. Give a little to get a little (sex).

“Of course, Princess, I will rob the bank to get you a pony…”....YES MEN...your daughter or your significant others daughter...DON'T SAY THESE WORDS!!!!!!!! It sets expectations at a young age and this is why women get upset when you don't or stop buying and doing. Thanks Capt. I needed this one. This will be a good thing to use in upcoming "discussions". Have a great day!!! Using your words of wisdom...as you are older and wiser :P...will help me in the VERY near future.
DAAHHH Capt Obvious -- these 4 blogs on M vs W is ancient history = battle of sexes. Even Bill S figured it out 500 yrs ago ("Taming of the Shrew"); and more recently "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus", and Loehr penned, "Why can a woman be more like a man?" (Camelot). Men and women are different physically, emotionally, spiritually intellectually. But Betty F has convinced 2 generations that this is not the case and that men should be like women. Yes, some men have achieved that Nirvana; unfortuately for the women, these men are not available to them.
Yes men want sex (for propogation of the species) and women want things and stability (to ensure that their offspring will grow to maturity). Women will drive men via sex to provide more and more things (gifts, house, money); whereas a man wants a different and more limited set of things (read: power tools and cars) once he has his sex life in order (ie married). Hence a struggle and the inevitable divorce.
Thru Betty F's efforts women have "equal rights" and have begun to transform society (schools, work, ...) into a "women only" world. And men are now seen as "defective women" and are being ostracized (i.e. "male chauvinist pig" ... Why isn't there a female counterpart? They do exist.) Unless men can conform to the women's world they are kicked out, at least figuratively. Note that 50% more women than men graduate from college. This was 30% 5 yrs ago and 20 yrs ago the ratio was the inverse.
This has already happened in US churches over the past 200 yrs. Churches are full of women; men rarely go. Why? Hmmmm. They are less Christian? Don't think so. But they definitely don't fit the women's view of Christianity.

Yeah ti's an old topic but my name should say it all... Captain Obvious... just tryin to point out some blaringly obvious things to spur some thought on the part of the reading public :D
