Jump a Fence
Around here lately there has been a big stink about some proposed changes to some immigration laws. Specifically about the part making coming into the country illegally a felony. Before we get too far into this take note of the “Illegally” part of that. Grab your floaties we are swimming to a newer, better life.
In Houston Texas 500,000 students walked out of school to “Protest the Illegal Immigration law changes” also known as an organized skip day… most of these students don’t even know what they are protesting. They seem to think it’s targeting Mexicans specifically, which it’s not, if you remember Misnomers I pointed out that an immigrant is not specific to any nationality, more importantly it seems they think it’s targeting any immigrant. Neither of these are true however, the law changes are for anyone that breaks the law by entering our country without going through the process to become a citizen or to get a visa allowing them to work or go to school here… in short the law targets people without a tax number. There are a few things to think about regarding this; one being that it is already illegal to enter the country without documentation (the process of getting a visa or citizenship), this revision will just make it a harsher penalty since the current penalties are not stopping people from doing it. Another is that we have some serious security issues in this country lately regarding people coming over and wanting to blow things up… 4th of July not withstanding (U.S. independence day… you know people fought for this countries sovereignty). Tell me, would you let someone in your home that you thought may shit on your living room floor? And if they did wouldn’t you want to be able to do something about it? Another point of interest is that the folks that are actually affected by this change don’t vote nor pay taxes. So really their opinion in the alteration or creation of laws in this country does not matter at all.
As a proof of how little the protesters understand about the issue they are speaking out against, they are all marching up to city halls to protest. The law is a federal matter… the Mayor can do NOTHING for them. To protest a federal matter march to the office of the US Representatives of your area or a senator… at least then you are dealing with someone that is actually involved in the process. Basically read a book, read a newspaper, know something on the topic before protesting it if you want to be taken seriously.
Closing thought; this is happening in a lot of cities in several states, I used Houston Texas because I live there and have more information about it. I honestly believe the kids that are doing this are just using it as an excuse to skip class. Stupid people… can’t live with them can’t shoot them… or can we?

can't imagine what would happen if aussie students tried an "organised skip".
Its true that they probably don't know what they're talking about though.
illegal immigration can be a real problem, but those immigrants have such a hard time in australia. There's a lot of emnity toward those back-door immigrants trying to gain assylum.
i'll have to post on this one day...
Wow. You disagreed with one of my posts and now I can reciprocate. I have heard all this argument before."Illegal immigrants this illegal immigrants that..blah blah" It is really quite nonsense, well mainly the one about 'they will come to bomb us'. The 'bombers' come with a visa, with documentation, with lots and lots of money behind them...not desperate and needy!
Anyway when I saw the students protesting I was so excited. I thought at last The USA is coming out of its stupour/torpor... I wish we were doing the same... like the French demonstrating.... and what do Australians do... the students?..'no we are too scared. No it might mean I might get into 'trouble'. Ah shit. Where is the democracy!
So clear the air, shout and yell even if you disagree Cpt'n, because it means your countryfolk are waking up at last! Leave them to it if you don't agree, it is ok. It means life is being pumped back into your little 'land of the free' veins.
Hurray for you. Hope we follow soon.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. What would you do to make sure your children had a better start?
Allison - whether or not they want a better life is not the point, I don't really care if htey want a better life, why not stand up in their own country and try to make it a better place to live? I will tell you why, because americans are easy adn pragmatic, we will explain our way into anything being ok. Fact is it's illegal to enter the country (true in any country) without a tax number. I don't care about bombers, I don't care about being hungry. work it out. I think it's stupid to protest our enforcement of a standing law, that you can find in every country, including the ones that they are fleeing. You want to be here.. great.. apply.. go through the process or at least add to the pool of funds you are drawing from (taxes).
Fatty, immigrants don't have it easy here either, but they can stay under teh radar and do what they need to do.. I don't have a problem with the reason, just the result :)
Heathen - your wife as i recall will wind up legal in the end, and right now she is visiting like a tourist... umm I think or did she pack up and leave? anyhow....
I know I responded in a kind of odd way all the way around, but I have had "Tangent issues" lately hehehe... glad the article got everyone thinking, agree or not that is the goal.
