Sin Sells...
But the real question is should we be buying?
Well as I think I have pointed out in previous write ups I am not religious, in fact I am an atheist. But the fact remains people shell out cash for that which is not in their best interest. Which is what the bible refers to when it mentions sin (don’t eat shell fish cause 8 months out of the year, in the region the bible was created in, they will kill you.) Usually my titles are a little more subtle and obscure in reference to the write up itself but this time it is what it is. Sin Sells; people will pay to have a nekid chick hang out with them, people will pay to forget the recent events of life, and people will pay to have a someone dress up like a barbi and be spanked.
So what is it about forward movement we are all avoiding? Is it fear of potential? Fear of failure? Maybe it’s just the realization we are going to die before we get the chance to experience that carnal need/want of something we can’t pinpoint. Or maybe it’s just human nature to destroy ourselves… I think it’s the latter.
We develop ways to kill ourselves; Cigarettes, Cocaine, Alcohol, Driving fast, Thermonuclear Warfare. We want to die… just not right this second. We are self destructive. We marry “the person of our dreams” only to find out they drive us nuts and enjoy doing it… but they look good. We will go to extreme measures to ensure that we can and will experience the hardest lessons in life, because we don’t believe the thousands of people that have done the same thing when they say “trust me it sucks.”
So what is it about “Sin” that appeals to us? Is it the taboo? Or just the pleasure it invokes for the moment? Or a mix there of? Does it make us feel more alive to be on the edge? To be stressed and pressured until we aren’t alive any longer?
Sometimes people want to feel alive instead of just being alive, sometimes breathing isn’t enough; people want to get that surge that says “you just did something no one else has done.” Wake up…. It’s been done and probably better. Now go do something meaningful with your day… help a family, save a kid, take care of your responsibilities. Fuck the dumb shit and do something that will be important one or two generations from now… more importantly go do something you won’t have to lie about later.
Closing thought; if you think you will have to lie about it… don’t do it. If you can have the Sin and not lie about it more power to you.

i think you are right at humans are self-destructive. It is all the more tragic because i think humans have the potential for so much more, knowledge and understanding -wise, except that we are held back by our own fallacies.
If there is one thing we are good at, it's deception. And not only of others, but of ourselves.
